File extension arc information
Similar to ZIP and RAR file types, ARC is an archiving file extension that may contain a number of file types in its archiving package. The file type is now considered an obsolete file extension. Its use started deterioration in the 1980s and has the use of the extension fall to very few applications today. Thus, many developers have resorted to using other file formats.
